INTRODUCTION
Mr. Channing has more than two decades operational experience in retail, distribution, construction and building management in the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam.
Vietnam: Resident in country for over 20 years whilst heading up the investment opportunities of the Aquarius Group’s various business interests. Not only witnessing, but experiencing hands on, the rapid developments in country has given new meaning to the term being a proud ‘the son of Vietnam’. With over 20 productive and meaningful years in Viet Nam, Channing has benefitted from being given unique insights into the opportunities and challenges presented to the local population as well as that of foreign enterprise - plus a heartfelt appreciation for the resolve in advancement for a determined and enthusiastic Vietnamese people despite a challenging history. Spearheading all operations in Viet Nam which include Travel Retail at the Noi Bai International Airport, remote border shop locations and the development from ‘blueprint to construction to ribbon-cutting' of the Group’s boutique commercial building – Asia Tower. Located in the heart of Ha Noi’s Hoan Kiem District, a beautiful and iconic destination for business and tourists alike.
Laos: Established two Joint Venture companies in Laos PDR, teaming up with the Lao Ministry of Defence and local private interests involved in Travel Retail operations in several key locations including in the Wattay International Airport, the Mittaphab ‘Friendship’ Bridge on the border with Thailand, south east of Vientiane as well as Boten on the northern border with the Peoples Republic of China and Bokeo, on the north-west border with Thailand. Other projects include the design and construction of a large-scale trading centre at the Mittaphab Bridge and providing outlets for local vendors to serve the numerous Thai tourists, predominantly from the Isaarn provinces along the North East of Thailand.
Philippines: Early Travel Retail operational development in Manila working with the country’s tourism department’s retail arm, Duty Free Philippines.
